The successful recruitment Chase Canada started with Illinois head coach Bret Bielema recruiting a cornerback named Channing Canada out of Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas. Channing eventually would select TCU as his next destination as he recorded 20 tackles, one tackle for loss and a sack in the 2023 campaign with the Horned Frogs.

In a similar fashion of Easton Baker’s recruitment from Utaht, nobody should expect Tanner Hollinger’s signing day news to result in a pipeline for the Illinois football program from Nebraska.

Hollinger, who played eight-man football at Cross County High School, is slated to be the first Illini football player from the state of Nebraska to earn a letter since Omaha native Leo Klein played right end in 1915-17.
