EVANSTON, Ill. — Sometimes sports is as simple as letting your opponent walk themselves right into defending your best player over and over and over again.

This is how Northwestern head coach Chris Collins described the overtime period on Friday night that saw his leading scorer, Nick Martinelli score seven straight points in a two-and-a-half minute stretch to lead Northwestern to a 70-66 upset win over No. 19 Illinois in overtime.

Things could not have gone much better for the Illini on Thanksgiving as they feasted on the Arkansas Razorbacks in a 90-77 win. Tomislav Ivisic started early draining 3’s and would finish with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks on 6-9 shooting from deep. Then Kasparas Jackucionis would hit big shots late en route to a 23 point performance that showcased why he is high on draft radars.
