Sturdy's Three (+1) Takeaways: K-State edition
It wasn’t always pretty, but the Illini got a big night from Kofi Cockburn and a surprising night from Alfonso Plummer as they took care of business against the gritty Kansas State Wildcats, 72-64. Cockburn scored 23 and had 13 rebounds, while also dishing out 2 assists, while Plummer hit 7 3’s to account for 21 points. Sturdy's Four Takeaways: Cincinnati edition
Here’s the reality: at this point in the season, Illinois is not a very good basketball team. You often see teams that are greater than the sum of their parts, but this team is less than right now in a 71-51 drubbing at the hands of the Bearcats. Although Kofi Cockburn had 18 points and 7 rebounds and Andre Curbelo had 12 points and 5 assists, Illinois got little else and turned a 15 point lead into a 20 point loss by shooting 28.1% from the field and 13.8% from 3 (3-22).
