Illinois basketball star Terrence Shannon Jr. and his attorneys filed for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) on Monday in Champaign County Court to immediately return to the Illinois basketball team. 

Shannon, who has been charged with rape in Douglas County Kansas, has been suspended since December 27th after the charges were filed. Shannon and his attorneys do not believe that he has been afforded the due process or the transparency necessary in a case of this magnitude. 

Shannon’s attorneys, Lead Attorney Rob Lang, Mark Goldenberg and Mark Sutter are all named on the TRO. 

Shannon is hoping to obtain immediate relief and then is hoping for an injunction that would allow him to be reinstated on a more permanent basis after the 10, or 20 day, if agreed upon, length of the TRO. 

IlliniGuys spoke with attorney Mark Goldenberg who relayed what they are hoping to accomplish. 

“Terrence is adamant that he is innocent of these charges, and he hasn’t been given his due process and the process hasn’t been transparent,” Goldenberg said. “We just want him to get his due process.” 

The TRO case will be heard as early as Tuesday and Wednesday at the latest and there should be an almost immediate ruling.

The Illini host Michigan State on Thursday and Maryland on Sunday
