This year was very unusual for basketball visitors to come to visit and attend games in Champaign. During the 2021-2022 season, this basketball staff focused a lot on game day preparation. They still talked to recruits, coaches, and families but with the Iowa Hawkeyes being the last home game, the Illini staff are bringing in some of the top recruits in the country.

Here’s that list:

• Devin Royal 6’6” 210 pounds Pickerington, OH ‘23
• Spencer Elliott 6’9” 200 pounds Atlanta, GA ‘23
• James Brown 6’9” 210 pounds St. Rita ‘24
• Nojus Indrusaitis 6’4” 170 pounds Lemont ‘24
• Caden Wilkins 6’6” 200 pounds Bettendorf, IA ‘24
• Cooper Koch 6’7” 205 pounds Peoria ND ‘24
• Morez Johnson 6’8” 205 pounds St. Rita ‘24
• Ty Rodgers 6’6” 200 pounds Thornton ‘22

Sometime before the game or after the game, if the recruits are available, you can expect me to interview as many recruits as possible for their feedback on Illinois, the team, and their future plans with the Illini. From all indications presented to me these aren’t players that are mildly interested or just curious recruits, these are players they want to a part of the program and the Illini are going to go all out for their commitments.

Obviously, Ty Rodgers has already signed with the Illini and will play next season in the Orange and Blue and Morez Johnson has already committed to Illinois as well.
