Joliet's Jordan Anderson has his eyes on the Illini

Jordan Anderson, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound running back from Joliet talked recruiting with IlliniGuys.com on Monday.

Anderson said he currently holds seven DI scholarship offers: Illinois, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Toledo, and Central Michigan.

"Illinois is my home state university. I wasn't really recruited by the staff from last year. But I will say this staff makes me feel like I'm a part of a family, which is all a kid wants to have to go to the next level. They text or call me, my family, or my coaches every single day. That means a lot to us," Anderson said.

The Illinois native said it did not bother him too much that Illinois did not pursue him. He felt they were looking for something else and had their mind made up for players in the backfield.

Tonight (Monday) is the Orange and Blue spring game; as much as Anderson would like to be in attendance, he will have to watch it on the Big Ten Network.

"I have practice tonight and won't be able to make it down there, I certainly wish I could, but it's not possible this time," he said.

Anderson will not drag this process out for long.

"I don't have a date set in my mind when I'm going to commit to a school, but it will be before I start my senior year," Anderson said.

So far, with Covid-19 playing a big part in the IHSA this year, in five games, Anderson has rushed for 800 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Sources close to the program feel really good about Anderson and his possible future with the Illini. Stay tuned.
