Chester Frazier has wasted no time since arriving at Illinois and he nabbed his first commitment when 2022 Combo Guard Sencire Harris chose the Illini on Saturday morning. Harris is ranked as the 59th best player in 2022 by Rivals.com and is ranked as the 93rd best by 24/7 sports.
Harris visited Illinois two weeks ago and the buzz surrounding his recruitment and the Illini grew. Illinois sees Harris as a dynamic combo guard that with his 6'3 frame and length can play multiple positions. Harris is an elite defender with high level athleticism and the ability to score at all 3 levels. Perhaps most impressive is his competitiveness though. Harris is a 'dawg' as they say. It's one reason why he and Illinois Assistant Coach Chester Frazier hit it off so well.
Harris said that his relationship with Coach Frazier made Illinois feel like family and that the Illini have shown the ability to develop guards like Ayo Dosunmu and Andre Curbelo.
“Illinois felt like family. It’s a perfect fit with the style of play," Harris said. "My family and I trust Coach Underwood and Coach Frazier with my future. Illinois has had a history of elite guards as well."
Harris joins Reggie Bass as the 2nd commitment in the class of 2022 for the Illini.
