EUGENE, Ore. - Illinois was getting blown out of the gym at Oregon Thursday night. Instead of conceding the loss, the Illini got to work.
Trailing 49-28 early in the third quarter, leading scorer Berry Wallace teamed up with freshmen Cearah Parchment and Destiny Jackson to handle all the scoring in a 21-0 run to tie the game.
Illinois (16-7, 6-6 in Big Ten) built an eight-point lead in the final period before the Ducks rallied and took the lead for good on a Katie Fiso layup with eight seconds left as Oregon (18-7, 6-6) escaped with a 76-73 win.
Wallace, who was sporting a mask due to a broken nose, finished with a team-high 19 points for her 13th consecutive double-digit scoring effort. Jackson posted 13 points, seven assists, and six rebounds while Parchment added 11 points and six boards. Maddie Webber scored 10 points off the bench, eight of them coming early in the fourth quarter to allow Illinois to take its first lead in the game.
The Illini return home to face USC Sunday afternoon in a game they hope to draw a sellout crowd in State Farm Center. Tipoff is at 12pm CT and is can be seen on BTN Plus.
