Illini eliminated from NCAA tournament in 68-53 loss to Houston

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Kofi Cockburn scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds, but Illinois struggled with another poor offensive outing as 5-seed Houston scored the 68-53 upset and eliminated the Illini from the NCAA tournament.

The South Region's 4th seeded Illini end the season at 24-10 as they suffer a second round upset for the second year in a row.

Illinois never found its shooting stroke after beating Iowa in the regular season finale, shooting 36% in a loss to Indiana in the Big Ten quarterfinals and then 39% in Friday night's NCAA tournament opening round win over Chattanooga.  Sunday Illinois hit just 34% (17-of-50) from the field.
