Illinois head coach Bret Bielema said at Big Ten Football Media Days that his program was unable to get in the mix for top transfer portal defensive linemen due to lack of money.

CHICAGO — Bret Bielema would’ve obviously loved to sign an elite, highly-rated defensive lineman or linebacker out of the transfer portal but his reasoning for not doing that this winter involves kitchen table economics logic.
