CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Genesis Bryant scored 18 points as 23rd ranked Illinois thumped Truman State 121-60 in its lone exhibition game Monday night.
The Illini placed eight players in double figures as they made sure everyone got in the game in their first action against another team since preseason camp opened.
Bryant played a team-high 24 minutes, making 6 of 11 from the field and 3 of 6 from three point range as she opens her senior season. Jada Peebles also hit a trio of three-pointers on the way to a 15-point night. Kendall Bostic recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action.
Brynn Shoup-Hill and North Carolina State transfer Camille Hobby added 12 points off the bench while Kamren Rhodes and freshman Gretchen Dolan added 11 each. Preseason All-Big Ten pick Makira Cook finished with 10 points.
Illinois hit 56 percent from the field and 54 percent from the arc.
The Illini will open coach Shauna Green's second season next Tuesday when they host Morehead State at State Farm Center (6pm, BTN Plus).
