Champaign, Ill. — As reported by Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, Kasparas Jakucionis has committed to Illinois. 

The Illinois coaching staff has traveled across the pond to secure a significant addition to the 2024-25 men's basketball roster, Kasparas Jakucionis. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound European guard is set to make a major impact with his exceptional skills and potential.

The recruitment of Jakucionis was spearheaded by Illinois associate head coach Orlando Antigua, assistant coach Geoff Alexander, and head coach Brad Underwood. The effort by all three coaches helped seal the deal.

Earlier this month, Jakucionis showcased his talent in a head-to-head matchup against Egor Demin, a 6-foot-8, 190-pound combo guard from Russia, who is projected to be a lottery pick in the 2025 NBA draft. Jakucionis dominated the game, leading his team to victory with an impressive stat line of 26 points, nine rebounds, and six assists, while shooting 6-for-12 from three-point range.

According to Illini reports, NBA draft projections have Jakucionis listed in the second round of the 2025 draft. His limitless potential explains the significant effort invested in recruiting him.

Ked's Film Review–He demonstrated an ability to score at all levels, whether it is shooting from beyond the arc, driving to the rim, or making plays for his teammates. In one game recently, he recorded 17 assists, followed by another game with 14 assists. His ability to score is matched by his passing; he creates scoring opportunities for others with ease, with curl cuts, layups, and open threes.

Jakucionis' international background should not cause anyone to underestimate his contributions to Illinois. His addition to the team will provide a much different look for the Illini basketball program this winter.
