CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Shauna Green entered elite company Sunday with her 200th career victory.

The impressive workmanlike 81-69 win also represented how well Green’s present season is going as Illinois matched the program’s best career start through 11 games, matching the 1981-82 Illini squad started their campaign with a 10-1 record when Green was two years old.

Green is now the third ever head coach in program history to reach the 200-win mark as a Division I head coach (Theresa Grentz and Matt Bollant).

Illinois (10-1) got elite performances from its trio of scorers of Berry Wallace (28 points), Gretchen Dolan (19 points) and Maddie Webber (16 points) while the rest of the Illini contributed to holding North Texas to just 32 percent shooting in the first half.

The game had a very choppy feel due to the physicality of North Texas, which had already taken blowout losses to a pair of power conference opponents (67-47 vs. Texas Tech and 73-55 vs. then-No. 24 Oklahoma State) leading to 50 personal fouls being called in the 40-minute affair.

Dolan was forced to show her versatility as a veteran guard take over a majority of the point duties in the second half with Destiny Jackson and Jasmine Brown-Hagger both experiencing foul trouble issues.

Sunday marked the 13th straight game where the Illinois defense has held its opponent under 70 points, which includes the Illini’s two NCAA Tournament games in Austin, Texas from last season.

Berry Wallace, who was coming off a frustrating eight-point performance in a road win at Missouri earlier this week, finished with a career-high 28 points and nine rebounds.

North Texas (6-4) got 32 of its 69 points in the paint but couldn’t negate its 18 turnovers and 6 of 19 shooting from beyond the three-point arc.

Illinois, which isn’t a team normally relying on the three-point shot, was given the opportunity with North Texas’ mixing defenses to hit 11 of 17 from beyond the arc on Sunday including 10 from the trio of Wallace, Dolan and Webber.

Illinois will next take the State Farm Center court on Friday as they host Jackson State in what will be the fourth power conference opponent for the Southwestern Conference opponent.
