Miles McVay is a 6-foot-7, 335-pound offensive tackle from the class of 2023 from East St. Louis, Illinois.

Because McVay was recently offered by Illinois, IlliniGuys.com caught up with him to get the latest on his recruitment.

"I know Coach Patterson; he was here in St. Louis a few years ago, he's a good guy. But he's not the only person I know there. Have some great relationships with several of the coaches that go back to when I was in little league, so the foundations have already been made," McVay said.

Illinois will have to make up some ground with McVay as he told us that he already has 27 DI offers. Offers include schools such as Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee and USC.

How will Illinois have a chance? The first-year staff was not able to land a bowl game invitation, but recruits took notice of the improvement of the program.

"I can see the growth within the program and the direction the program is showing. It’s a totally different vibe than when Coach Smith was there. I definitely plan to give them a visit," he said.

Playing close to home will not matter to McVay; it is going to be about relationships, the development he can receive from the college he picks, and how well his future teammates receive him.
