CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois Fighting Illini hosted the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday night in front of a packed house, and among those in the stands were several high school football recruits. They watched the Illini defeat Kansas 23-17.

One of the standout attendees was Jacob Alexander, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound edge rusher from Frankfort, Il (Lincoln-Way East). “I have 13 offers, but Illinois was my first,” Alexander said. “They were the one school that believed I could play . . .
