The Fighting Illini are expecting a big weekend for up-and-coming high school basketball recruits.

We mentioned there's still work that must be done in the class of 2022, but you have to look towards the future as well. Since the arrival of head coach Brad Underwood, Illinois has been very aggressive on the recruiting scene.

This weekend Illinois is expecting to host several prospects from the state of Illinois. Each of these student-athletes has an offer from the University of Illinois.

2023 - Richard Barron, 6-5 Shooting Guard Chicago, IL St. Ignatius

2024 -Jaedin Reyna, 6-0 Point Guard, Chicago St. Rita

2024 - James Brown, 6-8 Power Forward, Chicago St. Rita

2024 - Morez Johnson, 6-7 Power Forward, Chicago St. Rita

2024 - Nojus Indrusaitis, 6-4 Shooting Guard, Lemont, IL.

2024 - Cooper Koch, a 6-7 Small Forward, Peoria, IL (Notre Dame). -- Will not be present this weekend. He will be on campus October 8th, and really looking forward to it, according to his father J. R. Koch.

(2023) Owen Freeman, 6-9 Power Forward, Bradley, IL. -- Underwood watched Freeman at his open gym. Freeman said, "It went great; we were able to talk before and after I played. I thought I did pretty well. I was able to show all of the strengths of my game. I was scoring, passing, rebounding, and blocking shots. I think he (coach Underwood) liked that I could push the ball up the court at my position.
