Illinois Men's Basketball Strikes Again with Another Four-Star Recruit, Brandon Lee

Champaign, IL — Success on the recruiting trail seems to come naturally for Illinois head coach Brad Underwood, and today’s announcement proves just that. The Illini secured the commitment of four-star recruit Brandon Lee, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from The Patrick School in Elizabeth, N.J., for the class of 2025.

Lee chose Illinois over Rhode Island, High Point, Missouri State, Seton Hall, and Rutgers. While the list may not seem overwhelming at first glance, Seton Hall posed a legitimate threat, and Rutgers is no longer the Scarlet Knights of old. Under the leadership of head coach Steve Pikiell, Rutgers has undergone a transformation, with two players, Airious Bailey and Dylan Harper, expected to be lottery picks in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Lee’s commitment marks the second consecutive week that Illinois has landed a four-star recruit. Last week, the Illini added Keaton Wagler, a 6-foot-6, 175-pound shooting guard from Shawnee, Kan., to their roster.

During his visit to Champaign last week, Lee was impressed by what Illinois had to offer. Despite the prevalence of the NCAA transfer portal, Illinois has found a way to blend incoming high school talent with experienced players, continuing to build a balanced and competitive roster.
