The Fighting Illini men's basketball team is making waves yet again in the world of collegiate basketball transfers.
This time, it's 6-foot-7 sophomore Tre White who's making the move to Illinois, bringing with him a promising set of skills and a track record of being dominant.
White's statistics speak volumes about his abilities on the court. With an average of 12.3 points per game and 5.9 rebounds, along with 46 percent shooting from the field, he's proven himself to be a valuable asset to this roster. But it's not just about the numbers; White's style of play adds depth and versatility to Illinois' roster.
What makes White's addition even more significant is that he's not the only transfer to choose Illinois recently. Last week, the team welcomed Jake Davis, a 6-foot-6 wing from Mercer, showcasing the program's attractiveness to talented players seeking new opportunities.
White's journey to Illinois has been marked by transitions and transformations. Starting his career at USC before transferring to Louisville, he brings with him a wealth of experience from reputable basketball programs.
Tre hails from Napa, California, and a product of Prolific Prep. A former four-star recruit, White's decision to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal in late March undoubtedly caught the attention of many programs seeking to bolster their rosters.
His game is characterized by versatility and proficiency across all three levels of scoring. With strength, physicality, and a reliable jump shot, White possesses the tools to make a significant impact on the court.
For Illinois, White represents more than just a new addition to the team; he is a player coming in looking to be a starter from day one.
