New multimedia group approaches 1.5 million views on multi-media website

CHICAGO and CHAMPAIGN, Illinois/July 12, 2021

ILLINIGUYS, a multi-media organization and the operator of IlliniGuys.com, celebrates its six-month anniversary with an announcement of more than 1.38 million page views by 41,000 users – according to Google analytics - in its short existence.

“We didn’t know what to expect, quite honestly, when we started this”, said co-founder Mike Cagley.  “But obviously we’re thrilled by these numbers.  I think this is a testament to the great ILLINIGUYS community that has really taken ownership in having a site where members can have fun discussing the latest buzz around the Illini programs and sports in general.  We think University of Illinois sports fans are really intelligent and well-read people who want to be kept in the loop and it’s that passion that is fueling our very fast growth.”

IlliniGuys.com has produced more than 400 pieces of content, from thought-provoking and informative podcasts to feature stories that allow fans to keep up with their favorite players and potential future Illini.

“It’s not uncommon for someone to join our site and then reach out to us to say how much they’ve enjoyed the endless amount of content.  We’re fortunate to have a very special and talented group of journalists and professionals who do a great job of communicating”, said Cagley.

According to the analytics, 26% of IlliniGuys.com users are in the greater Chicagoland area while 17% are from central Illinois.  Smith noted the website has carved out a small following in nearly two dozen metropolitan areas around the country, from New York to Los Angeles.

“That’s not surprising”, said co-founder Larry Smith.  “There has always been a great fervor for Illini sports in Chicago, in downstate Illinois, and among U of I alumni and fans across the country.  We’re thrilled that we can add to that at a time of great excitement across the athletic department. We think we have a product that has considerable value not just to our members but to those community leaders with whom we are forming relationships.”

IlliniGuys.com is a one-stop destination for sports news, analysis and interactive contents delivered to subscribers. It offers podcasts, message boards, a chat room, pre- and post-game analyses, subscriber video conference calls and recruiting updates by in-house and guest experts as well as special appearances by “Illini Legends” and other national sports and entertainment personalities.
