COLLEGE PARK, Md. – All five starters finished in double figures for the second consecutive game, though it was not enough in Illinois' 90-82 road loss to Maryland at the XFINITY Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Fighting Illini saw their two-game winning streak come to an end, though they went a perfect 16-for-16 from the free-throw line, which set a new program record for most makes while shooting 100% from the charity stripe.
Playing a career-high-tying 35 minutes, Camille Hobby tallied 12 points in the first half before finishing with 18 points, one shy of her season-best tally. Hitting double figures for the third straight game, Hobby also totaled seven rebounds, including two on the offensive glass, and a career-high four steals.
Genesis Bryant knocked down three 3-pointers for the sixth time this season en route to a team-high 19 points, the eighth time in her last nine appearances she has hit double figures. Bryant also grabbed four rebounds and dished out five assists, one short of her season-high mark, while going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Adalia McKenzie scored eight of her 12 points in the first half, while two of her three rebounds came on the offensive glass. McKenzie also amassed two assists, the fourth time in her last five games she has notched multiple helpers, and one steal.
Makira Cook registered 13 points, marking the 11th time in her 14 games this season that she has reached double figures. Cook also secured three assists, one rebound, and one steal.
Kendall Bostic, who equaled her career-best mark with 38 minutes of action, accumulated 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, which was one shy of her best mark of the season, and one block. Bostic has now scored in double digits in nine of the last 10 games.
Gretchen Dolan finished her afternoon with seven points and two assists off the bench while playing a career-high 28 minutes.
Illinois (8-9, 2-5 B1G) begins a two-game homestand on Thursday, when the Illini hold its Pack the House game against No. 18 Ohio State. Tipoff from State Farm Center is slated for 6 p.m. CT on Peacock.
