CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - After a one-week absence, Illinois returned to the Associated Press Top 25 football poll at number 23 in the latest rankings released Sunday afternoon.

The Illini received 168 points to land ahead of Arizona State and Michigan in the rankings.

Last week was the first poll this season that didn't include Illinois after suffering a 34-16 loss to top-ranked Ohio State. The Illini are 5-2 after enjoying their first bye week of the season with their only losses coming to number 1 Ohio State and 2nd ranked Indiana.

Illinois also climbed two spots in the coaches poll to number 23.

The Illini return to action next Saturday at Washington (2:30pm CT, BTN).
