ABOUT THE OPPONENT

Michigan State boasts a 14-3 overall record and a 4-2 mark in Big Ten play heading into Sunday afternoon's contest. The Spartans are tied for sixth place in the conference standings, with the team's four B1G victories coming against No. 21 Iowa, Purdue, Washington, and Rutgers.

Winners of two-straight and three of its last four, Michigan State holds a 2-2 tally in true road games this season. The Spartans have defeated Rutgers and Western Michigan away from home, while the two losses came at the hands of No. 8 Maryland and Nebraska.

MSU has earned a spot in the last seven iterations of the AP Top 25 weekly poll, climbing as high as No. 15 on Dec. 16. The Spartans entered the rankings for the first time on Dec. 2, ending a four-season absence from the national list, in head coach Robyn Fralick's second season at the helm of the program.

ALL-TIME SERIES INFORMATION

Heading into Sunday's 2 p.m. CT tipoff, Michigan State holds a 46-28 edge in the all-time series between the Fighting Illini and the Spartans, which dates back to 1977. MSU has won 11 of the last 12 contests between the teams, though Illinois secured an 86-76 victory in the last meeting at State Farm Center.

The Orange and Blue are 10-25 when playing the Spartans in Champaign, and they are looking for back-to-back home wins over Michigan State for the first time since 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons.

LAST TIME OUT

Illinois led for the final 38 minutes of play en route to an emphatic 68-54 road win over Indiana at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Thursday night. Ahead by as many as 15 in the contest, the Fighting Illini improved to 13-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play with their first Big Ten road victory of the campaign.

Four scorers for the Orange and Blue finished in double figures as the Illini recorded their largest margin of victory against the Hoosiers away from home since 1999.

Kendall Bostic marked her return to her home state with a dominant 21-point, eight-rebound performance. A pest in the paint from start to finish, Bostic went 9-for-19 from the field, dished out three assists, and made one block while playing all 40 minutes. Adalia McKenzie tallied 15 points for her eighth-straight outing in double figures. Three of her five rebounds came on the offensive glass, and she amassed four assists.

Berry Wallace scored in double figures for the second time in her career and for the first time in Big Ten play, pouring in 13 points off the bench. A stretch of five-consecutive points in the fourth quarter swung the momentum back in the Illini's favor, and the freshman also connected on three 3-pointers, going 3-for-3 from deep, and finished with four rebounds and a steal.

Genesis Bryant ended the night with 12 points while equaling her season-best total with seven assists, and she also corralled three rebounds and snatched a steal. Jasmine Brown-Hagger logged seven points, including five in the fourth quarter, along with four assists, two rebounds, and a steal.
