Football Recruiting Spotlight on James Thompson

Illinois' third addition from the Wisconsin defensive unit was its best, as 4-star transfer James Thompson chose to spend his last year of eligibility in Champaign with former Badgers Curtis Neal and Leon Lowery.  Thompson was a two year starter in Madison and put up solid stat lines and PFF numbers before a torn pectoral muscle sidelined him just before the 2024 season started.  Wisconsin's loss is Illinois' gain though because it's safe to say that Thompson will be a fixture on the Illini defensive . . .
