COLUMN: This Isn’t The Congressional Help Illini Football Wanted

Despite it getting eleventh-hour approval from the Big Ten Conference, this version of the Protect College Sports Act couldn’t possibly be what anybody with Illini football wanted.

The Friday night news dump of the Big Ten Conference and Southeastern Conference leadership giving its public approval for a revised Protect College Sports Act does provide a pathway for federal legislation to be voted before the congressional recess in early August.

Despite the fact that there isn’t a clear indication in the legislation language about whom exactly is providing . . .
