CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Jasmine Brown-Hagger scored a season-high 23 points as 23rd ranked Illinois celebrated its return to the national rankings with an 84-37 romp over visiting Eastern Illinois Thursday night, giving head coach Shauna Green her 200th career coaching win.
The runaway victory completes a banner week for the Illini (3-0), which raised its first-ever postseason tournament championship banner ever Sunday night, then earned its first November spot in the Associated Press rankings since 2000 by coming in at #23 on Monday.
Earlier in the day, Green's new multi-million dollar contract was approved. https://illiniguys.com/illini-head-coach-shauna-green-set-to-receive-seven-figure-salary-with-new-contract-extension/
Illinois jumped out to a 19-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, as they never trailed against the Panthers, even with starting senior point guard Makira Cook sitting out.
Sophomore Gretchen Dolan started in her place and scored 13 points while Adalia McKenzie added 11. Kendall Bostic posted her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Illini will host LeMoyne Monday in their annual Field Trip game. Tipoff is at 11am and it can be seen on BTN Plus.
